A Fair Tax Plan

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,..."

This line from the Declaration of Independence is the corner stone of America. What does that mean? It obviously can mean many things. The Declaration of Independence also goes onto say...
"that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." What does equal mean? To me it means that I can make out out of life what ever I choose; this is achieve through hard work, education, and self discipline. I without a doubt acknowledge that people have been prejudice to one another and have cause people not to fairly pursue the best they can be. But we are getting better everyday...but onto the point of this blog.
The fairest way to tax the people would be to impose an equal tax on every person that is above 18 and younger that 65. If I paid $2000 a year then Warren Buffet would pay $2000 a year. But due to the amount of debt that American is impossible for the average American to afford this.
Another fair way to tax the people is every person that is above 18 and younger that 65 would pay the same percent. If I pay 15%, again Warren Buffet would pay 15% and the guy pumping gas would pay 15%. How can one say that is not fair? I and the guy pumping gas have had the same chance as Warren Buffet to go to school, to study in college via the military, grants, scholarships, loans, etc. Remember we are all equal, so should our share of taxes be equal. Some would argue that the rich should pay more because they can afford it...well, they are. If Mr Buffet makes $100 million he is paying $15 million, if I make $70,000 then I pay $10,500, if the guy pumping gas makes $17,000 he pays $2550.
Something similar to this would be the Flat Tax such as the one Dick Armey proposed, which can be seen at http://www.ncpa.org/ba/ba136.html . This would allow deductions for the people who are not as financially successful. For example the single gas pumping guy would have a deduction of $13,000, so he would only be taxed 17% on $4,000, he would pay $600. Warren Buffet would be taxed on $99,973,800, so he would pay $16,995,546. Are the rich still not paying more with this plan? Nor should anyone receive a check who has not paid into it.
I guess the question I ask is "Why should someone who has worked hard their entire life, has made all the right decisions, has maintain the perseverance and discipline be forced to pay more than their fair share?" If I pay 28% in taxes, why should the rich pay 35%, why should the guy pumping gas only pay 15%; why can't we all pay 15% ...in order to be fair and equal. If the rich want to pay more, then the IRS will happily take their donation.
